About
The Janitor is an award-winning short film which tells the story of a young custodian who, while cleaning a large storage room, discovers an old, neglected piano.
As he sits down to play a melody he once composed, he's transported into an imagined world where he performs on a grand stage. But when the door opens, and he sees a version of himself enter, he realizes it was all in his mind.This introspective short film explores themes of lost passion, memory, and the quiet power of imagination, leaving the audience to consider what we leave behindâand what still lingers within us.

Synopsis
Timi is just trying to surviveâworking long hours, juggling stress, and falling behind. Every day, on his rushed walk to work, a homeless man asks him for change. Every day, Timi walks past.But the weight of doing nothing is starting to follow him.As the pressure in his life builds, so does a quiet, persistent question: What does it mean to care when you have nothing left to give?From quiet streets to crowded rooms, Change is a stirring reflection on compassion, faith, and the small choices that reveal who we are.
Themes & Intent
Change explores the quiet emotional battles that unfold beneath the surface of everyday life. At its core, the film grapples with the tension between compassion and self-preservation, questioning how we show love when we ourselves feel depleted. Through Timiâs journey, the story unpacks themes of human connection versus isolation, and pride versus vulnerability.It challenges the idea that generosity must come from abundance, suggesting instead that presence, attention, and empathy are powerful forms of giving. Fikayo Odunayo is an award-winning director and filmmaker based in the Greater Toronto Area. Known for his strong visual storytelling and musical sensitivity, Fikayo has written, directed, and produced multiple short films, including The Janitor, which received awards at several film festivals for Best Original Music. His body of work also includes Together Forever and Change, demonstrating a keen eye for emotional nuance and narrative depth.
With a background in acting and music, Fikayo brings a multidisciplinary approach to directing, crafting films that are both visually compelling and emotionally resonant.
